We are Spoke'n'Chain - Teatro Nomade a Velo
On tour with our Kamishibai story telling theatre since 2013
In
May 2013 we set forth on this adventure on two big orange cargo bikes.
We've cycled to and through the U.K., France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Holland, Belgium and many a country more ever since, all along the way
performing our Kamishibai theatre.
For us touring theatre by bicycle is an exercise in simplicity, sustainability and low impact living
that seeks to demonstrate that another way of living is possible.
We
are supporters of the small is beautiful philosophy and believe in
community led, sustainable, low impact living. We celebrate voluntary
simplicity by collaborating with community and
environmental groups, volunteer run spaces such as community gardens, community arts
organisations and bicycle groups as well as others that are seeking to consume less and share more.
Another world is possible!
Another world is possible!
"In order to attain the impossible one must attempt the absurd." Miguel de Cervantes
On
the back of our big bicycle we carry a little Kamishibai theatre with
which two clowns will whisk you away into their surreal and silly world to tell you a story.
'Déjanté'! C'est terrible et complètement barré, A VOIR !!!'
Alain, Le Camping Minihy, Pleneuf-val-Andre
As
well as our clown theatre shows we sometimes do Kamishibai story telling workshops, pedal power
demonstrations, a disco in the woods, a bicycle carnival parade....

This tour is an exploration and celebration of the cycle routes and cycling cultures of Europe.
With roots in The Bristol Bike Project and the Bristol cycling community we seek contact with cyclists and the cycling cultures they are part of. This way we meet many exciting bicycle communities and people that are involved in bicycle recycling, critical mass, D.I.Y. bike maintenance, bike rides, bicycle related events and the promotion of cycling as means of transportation and a way of life.
Vive la Velorution! La Bici e Libera!
Let's find each other!
We seek to participate and collaborate.
We are telling and performing stories, running workshops, collecting and creating stories, taking people on bicycle picnics, rides and adventures, screening films, creating art, music and theatre wherever we go.
Let's do it together!
